Is it For Me or For Others?

I bet you are adjusting to what day of the week it is, adjusting to changes in sleeping schedules, back to work and business, and deep down, wondering what makes adulthood such a scam. Welcome to this side. Enjoy every bit of it.

It is 11 days into the new year and you are still charged up with all the resolutions you wrote down. Waking up for me time and reflection, running a mile or two to keep fit. Some of us are still wondering what resolutions we should write. But actually, the most important thing is the why? Why do you want to achieve your resolutions? What is your driving force? If it is to make the village witches know who you are, and believe you are successful, trust me it will fail. They will frustrate you and even when you achieve something, you will never be content and fulfilled because it was not yours in the first place. If you are doing this for yourself, it is bound to happen and you get to enjoy and trust the process. This does not mean that the path will not have challenges, of course, it will. Life is made up of that. Not everything will come easily.

2023 has got to be different. It cannot continue being the same as the previous years. If you want to live a different life, there must be tough choices. You need to come first and not be selfish to understand that you should live a worthwhile and complete life. That’s why I challenge you to go back to the resolution and reflect on your intention. Are you happy? Will you be fulfilled? It is through reflection that you will find your answer and enjoy the different season life brings you. Some of your resolutions are absurd because the gratification is external, get a beautiful wife to prove I am good at selecting fine girls. Be careful not to get beauty without brains. You cannot strike up conversations with beauty only. Want something for yourself, go for a vacation to enjoy family time, or take pictures of sunrise to enjoy and appreciate nature not for social media to know you can afford vacations. You do not need a million resolutions to fit in, you just need resolutions that fit your life.

You cannot afford a people-pleasing life. It is costly and draining. Live a life you get to enjoy, and you spend the most time with yourself. Others come and go. Protect yourself.

And to offer hope, we have twelve months, and 52 weeks, not everything will happen in the first month. You will achieve some this month, some next week, and others on the last day of the year. Be gracious to yourself. Do not wait for the goal to be achieved to start enjoying and living. Live through the process. Do what you have been called to do, not the version of what others think you should. I charge you today to begin living your life and as you are crazy on the vision board, write those things that you want and desire. It is not late to redefine what you want.
