Social media has made us believe that everything has to be shared on social media. We are competing against people, some whom we do not know, met, or ever will, instead of the better version of ourselves. The villagers already know when you buy a new dress, and you wonder why they think you are a stingy person not helping them. They monitor your salary by asking how much you have bought something and then hold round tables to discuss you.
Until you learn to keep silent, until the right time and with the right people, you will keep complaining. Not all blessings should be broadcasted. Not all pains should be shared. Some paths will need you to walk by yourself. Go silent. Some joys will need to be private, go silent. There are progresses you will make, let the people see. Learn to work in silence.
Not everyone is happy for you, including some of your family members, and the main reason you need to be careful. What people do not know, they will not attack. Work in silence and have the spirit of discernment, who to share with, how to do it, and to what level. Some of you are disrespected because you shared too much, and instead of the new version being displayed, you are judged by who you were in the past. Some of you are a laughing stock among people who are great pretenders.
You wonder why your so-called girlfriends are wooing your husband, then you remember how you told them how he cares for you. You are talking to a colleague about work frustrations and are looking for a new job, and you wonder why your current boss suddenly terminates your contract. It is your mouth. Before it is accomplished, and before you make those moves keep silent.
I dare you to go silent and work in silence. Go silent on your plans until they materialize. Silent on your progress and speak only when you are prompted to speak. I dare you to stop being a public address system of your plans and work in silence. The peace, joy, and calmness you experience will be overwhelming. The baggage will be lifted.
