Just Do It

When I was growing up, I had dreams. I have to admit that I lived a life of fantasy. My love for reading was birthed when I read Ben Carson's Think Big and the Nancy Drew series. My love for speaking was birthed from watching Oprah Winfrey's Show and local news. I would pick up newspapers and magazines and imagine myself reading the news. Growing up, I realized that there was more than a passion for what was displayed on the screens and in books. I realized I could not just wake up and be a speaker or a blogger. The work involved was a million drafts before the final copy, and several takes to perfect the speech. Let's just say I have done some work, and I still do. I practice speaking to myself in the mirror and record videos of myself talking and delete quite a number because my goal is to become a renowned world speaker and facilitator. Someday, I will be moving from country to country using my voice to impact, but before then, I need to conquer the ground where I currently step. I have to practice and practice and more practice. 

We were not just created to breathe in and out only. We have been created for a purpose. I hope you know yours. Keep the dream at heart and just do it. The journey to actualize what you desire will have its own share of ups and downs and if you look at it differently, the low moments will not just be a time of cussing but learning lessons. If you want to become an engineer, baker, teacher, artist, or sportsperson, just do it. 

Before you get the crown, you will have to dig the ground and get your hands dirty. Dig deeper. Motivation and passion alone won't make you achieve. Are you willing to put in the work? Are you willing to commit? What should you let go of to live your dream and purpose? How dirty your hands will get will depend on your passion. This is your journey. Do not compare. Some of you have shelved your journey and dreams because the downtime has gone on for a long time. Some have given up because they almost get the victory, and it escapes their fingers. For others, they were told their dreams are too big. And another group was told nothing good could come out of their family. 

Words will be said but do it. Some actions will be committed against you but still, do it. Start where you are with what you have and who you have. Plan and execute. Start small, think big. There will never be a perfect moment to do what you desire. What you have is now to start the journey. This month, get rid of the things that you heard were said, plan, and begin living. Understand that your purpose is solely yours and that allows people to fall off along the way. It is totally okay. Sit with your emotions. Love yourself and the person you are becoming. Cry if you must. You may not see the end of the staircase, just start with that one step. Do what you were created for. 

Start with one step. Start where you are at. Fall but pick yourself, crawl if you must but do not give up on your calling. Success is calling your name but start now. Just make that step beyond passion. Pursue what you were created for.
